Challenge #412 - Winter/Snow/Christmas

I know that we usually post our challenges every two weeks however, this is the only one that we are scheduling for December so that the DT can have some time off to spend with their families during the holidays.  This challenge will run until December 31st so you have lots of time to get in as many projects as you can!

Our challenge this month is SNOW/WINTER.  A easy challenge and a theme I am sure that you are all working with already so jump right in.

Check out the DT!

#411 Mood Board

Christmas Mood Board | Skillshare Projects

It's a mood board challenge this month everyone!  If you have never used a mood board before the idea is to take something from the board above that inspires you and use that to create your project...just off the top of my head, we can see a variety of colors, there's Christmas, Christmas trees, reindeer, buffalo plaid, white on white, lace, wreaths, christmas baubles, bells, bows, candles, lights, presents...what do you see!  Be sure to tells us in your post what parts inspired you...

Let's look at how the DT was inspired!

I made a Christmas card from recycled materials. The white shaped background is packaging, The felt and tulle flower is made from fabric scraps and the old book paper is from a torn up book.
The washi tape ,misted green ferns and sentiment are new.

Doreen
I had a very old set of Echo Park Winter-themed stickers I never thought I'd used due to a lot of them being snow-related. Recently I came across these old photos of us in actual snow, a rarity living in Southern CA, so I decided to try and use as many of the snow-themed stickers as I could; I used almost all of them! I also used a stamp-set I had in my stash that I had never used before and an old 12x12 PP, also from Echo Park.
I'd say, I successfully "Used my Stuff" w/ this layout!

For my project, I dipped into a stash of Echo Park Christmas paper to feature pictures of my dogs wearing their Christmas sweaters (under protest).  Even though they may not have felt it, they sure did look very festive!

So, it seems great minds think alike as I opted to go right down the left side of the board as well and did a scrapbook layout using a sketch and incorporating circles. My circles however are buttons...

Sketch that I used...

I made a shaker card.

Helen

#409 Stripes

Making Stripes with Solid Fabrics in Modern Quilts | Quilting Daily

We are going pattern this week people!  Bring out your STRIPES!

We want you to incorporate stripes somewhere on your project...maybe your paper, an embellishment, maybe it's in a photo for a layout...if you are stripey we want to see it!

Check out these DT projects!

Julene
I've used a wide black and white striped paper for this layout of Niagara Falls.
Add one other colour to get a great effect. (pink in my case)

I added a striped PP that matched my new "Schitt's Creek" Sweatshirt, but then the PP
kinda got buried, LOL!! But you can still see it!
12x12 Traditional Paper Layout

I used paper with diagonal stripes to accent pictures of my daughters when they were little girls carving their Halloween pumpkins.

Meet the New GDT's

We are so lucky to have 3 new Guest Designers joining us for challenges in October and November!

First off let me introduce you to Ashley!

Hello, I’m so excited to be guest designing! I’ve been scrapbooking since I was 16 - before scrapbooking was this hobby that it is now! I’be been married for two years & we have two dogs. I also love to read, work in the garden, & take beach vacations.

Next up we have Monique!

I am a 51yo single mother of a 17yo handsome teen and 2 fur babies.  I live in Columbia Maryland USA. I am sweet (by nature), ethnic (by design), and blessed (by God).  I am a paper crafter who loves to make scrapbook layouts, cards, paper purses, loaded envelopes, loaded hoops, tags, tag flips, pocketletters, and etc.  I am a published crafter and published poet.

And last but not least, Becca!

My crafting, art, and sewing 'bug' started back at age 9 when I joined 4-H club. The paper-crafting blog 'bug' started around 2010 after participating in some message boards for a website that morphed into jumping on the 'blog' train! And through the highs and lows, crafting has been a great stress reliever for me. You can find me at Becca's Heart for Creativity.

We are so happy to have these lovely and talented ladies joining us for the next couple months to help inspire and encourage you as you create.

Welcome aboard ladies!!

#408 Autumn/Fall

autumn | Definition, Characteristics, & Facts | Britannica

I know you have been waiting for it!  Here's this weeks AUTUMN/FALL challenge!

I am sure many of you have been working on autumn challenge for awhile now so be sure to add us to your list!  You can make your project about any autumn/fall theme, holiday, or maybe just the colors....take it where your imagination leads...

The DT has some amazing projects for you!

                                                           Julene
I visited Floriade in Canberra and found these giant copper coloured avocados. This range of autumn photos suited the photo.

Some fall photos in Gatineau Park, Quebec.

Amanda

In Canada our Thanksgiving holiday is in the fall so I used some lovely fall colors to scrap these photos of our son on his first Thanksgiving!

Doreen
My September 2020 Project Life Pages pretty much scream Fall!

For the challenge, I experimented with slim line cards, as well as creating a digital scene cards and created the scene below using layering techniques in Word.

When I think of Fall, I think of Halloween...it is my favorite holiday!  So I took the opportunity to scrap my favorite moment from last year's Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party...
