Meet the new Design Team!

First of all, don't forget about Amanda's bling challenge which can be found here!

We are very excited to introduce you to our 3 new DT members for this coming term.  They will be joining myself (Tammy) Amanda and Lynn to provide you with fun challenges and inspiration to use up that ever growing stash pile you seem to be accumulating! :)

First up....Michelle!
Hi, my name is Michelle Looi. I'm a full time working mum and have 2 boys age 5 and 7. I have been crafting since May2011. As DT member I hope to inspire other crafters as much as they inspire me to try new things and techniques. I love mixed media stuff, getting my fingers colorful, especially green and blue every other week when I go to work. I do have tonnes of papers stuck behind the doors, so I do want to reduce the amount from what I had bought since I started scrapping mid of 2011. I have an obsession with washi tapes and want to use them up before I start hoarding again.

I am on the DT at Let's Scrap and Stick It Down . I had guest designed at Artist Cellar, CSI, Scrap The Boys ; and had been published on ezines - Life.Paper.Scrapbook, ScrapN'Art and ScrapStreet
My craft blog is at : http://scraposition.blogspot.com/ & Pinterest @ http://www.pinterest.com/miclooi/

Crafting to me is a way to seek solutide and an avenue to destress. Glad that I found this path and found some arty sense in me.

Now on to Renee!

Hello!  My name is Renee Hagler.  I am a married mom of two almost adult kids.  We also have a 2 year old rescued Yorkie mix who is the baby of the family. Between the two kids and the puppy, I have plenty of scrappy inspiration to work with.   I work full time in a very left brain career.  Consequently, I crave all things creative.  My first love has always been scrapbooking, but I am also an avid photographer, crocheter and overall generally crafty person.  My motto is why buy it if I can make an even better one.  Most recently, I have developed a love of Copic Marker coloring.  I think it takes me back to my coloring book days as a child.   I am very excited to join the Use Your Stuff creative and can’t wait to share inspiration with all of you.

And last but not least Anne!

Hi.  My name is Anne Jang.  I live in West a Friendship Maryland, about 30 min. North of Washington DC, with my husband and 13 yr old daughter.  I've been scrapbooking for almost 17 years, and have completed some 25 scrapbooks.  We have a large family, that all lives within 10 min of each other, and that is the primary focus of my scrapbooking since we see each other almost every day!  I am a traditionalist, and love to "touch and feel"all of the paper and products I use on my layout!  I hope you enjoy what I create and that I give you inspiration!

I hope you will join me in welcoming these wonderful ladies to the DT and we look foward to their wonderful challenges.  The ladies will be starting next week with Anne presenting our June 2 challenge!

Challenge #137 - Bling

Welcome to another week here at Use Your Stuff! Amanda here -  I'm so glad the sun is finally shining around here that I was inspired to add some sparkle and shine to my scrapping this week! This week's challenge is to add some bling to your project! You can never go wrong with a little sparkle!

This photo is from my Trash the Dress photo shoot (courtesy of Forever Captured Photography) and I thought it would be a great one to add some bling too - rhinestones, sparkly flowers, rhinestone brads and glitter paper!

Tammy
I love how bling can give just the simpliest cards a little bit of pop.

Show us your bling!

Challenge #136 - Rule of three

Hi everyone.  Another week, another challenge here at UYS.   There is a "rule" or guideline for visual images.  It is thought that if a photo, layout, card etc were divided into thirds, vertically and horizontally, then it would be more visually interesting if your image falls along these lines.  Not sure if this is true or not, so I have taken this rule and changed it up a little  I challenge you to create your next project using THREE of anything you put down.  Three photos/images, three embellishments, three pieces of cardstock, paper etc.

Here is my example.  I used three photos, three patterned papers, three flower punchie diecuts, with three jewels and three words in the title.  I hope you take up this challenge.  Thanks for playing along with us at Use Your Stuff.

Lynne

Amanda
I made a card for the Rule of 3 challenge (3 stamps, 3 pieces of paper, 3 stamps and 2 sets of 3 dots of pearl paint - oh and 3 brads!

Tammy
I made this cute little bookmark for my challenge this week.  I used 3 stamps, and 3 embellishments.  I also have 3 colors.  I hope you like it.

Challenge #135

Happy Monday everyone!  Tammy here with a new challenge and an oh so easy one!  This week we would love to see some ribbon (or fibre) on your project.  See, told you, super easy.
It could be in a standard use or have fun and create something different.  Have a look at what the DT has created for you today!

Lynne
I am apologizing now for the "rerun".  My daughter is getting married two weeks from today, and I am just not scrapping at the moment.  Here is a layout I did last year.  Yes that is me at three weeks old.
I used ribbon for the petals of the flower and the big bow.

Tammy
In honor of Mother's day, I had created this layout with the generations of my family.  One of the only pictures I have of myself, mom, grandma and great-grandma.  I come from a long line of wonderful women. I didn't use a lot of ribbon on this layout as I wanted to focus on the photo.

Amanda

Ribbon is a great addition to any project - I love the dimension it can add to a page. This is a layout of one of my best friend's weddings - one of the other bridesmaids was helping the mom's with their corsages. I used four different ribbons on this page.

I loved the simplicity of Maxine's project and those splatters!

Karen's bold colors really stood out on this card, fabulously offsetted by the white!

I love Electra's ombre die cuts!

Hazel's technique of turning her project into a puzzle was unique....

Thanks to all of you for playing along on a difficult challenge this week.  Don't forget to grab your badges from the sidebar!

Challenge #134 - Ombre

Hello Everyone! It's another challenge day here at Use Your Stuff.  Our challenge this one is to use the ombre technique.  That means to use varying degrees of a color blending from dark to light or light to dark

ombre: having colors or tones that shade into each other —used especially of fabrics in which the color is graduated from light to dark {source: Merriam Webster}

This might be a challenge for some of you but it's great to work outside of your comfort zone and we are really excited to see what you create with this!

Here are some DT projects to get you started!

Lynne
I love the ombre technique.
Lately, green seems to be my favorite color to scrap with.
I hope you like this as much as I do.

Tammy
This was the first time I've tried this technique and wasn't sure at first what to do, then I realized paint chips!  They are always in an ombre staging so I popped over to the local Home Depot!  I created just a simple card but I think it turned out really well and I hope you like it.

Let's see what you create with this fun technique!
