Challenge #65 - Symmetry

Hi all.  Keeping busy during this busy season??

This week's challenge is to use SYMMETRY on your creation.

Webster's defines Symmetry as:

1: balanced proportions; also : beauty of form arising from balanced proportions

2: the property of being symmetricalespecially :correspondence in size, shape, and relative position of parts on opposite sides of a dividing line or median plane or about a center or axis

My card is completely "symmetrical" except the title text.  That would have been hard to do!!

C'mon- share your symmetrical creations please!!

Lynne

I have not done much scrapping at all this December.  I apologize.  However, I love a symmetircal look to a layout so I went back to an old layout I had done a few years back.  Hope you like it.

Barb
I love symmetry too. On this layout my pictures sizes and placement are very symmetrical.

Challenge #64- Office supplies

Hello there you crafty types,

The staring of a new week means it's time for a new challenge here at UYS.
This week we are challenging you to use things that you might see in the office; paper clips, tabs, staples, maybe even notebook paper or some computer generated journaling.

Let's check out what the creative team made this challenge......

Joy

Barb
I don't raid our home office very often for supplies, but I should do it more often. There's lots in there I could be using. On my layout I used my husband's PTouch labeller, and I did the journaling on clear mailing labels and put it onto the journaling square.

#63 Project Spotlight

Thanks to those who participated in the Retro Challenge last week. Check out this  great card by Danie May. I love that great retro image she used as well as all the pearls. Great job, Danie.
You can find more of her work here on her blog.

#63 - Going Retro

Hello everyone. Can you believe December is here already? If you're like me, you tend to put your creative self on the back burner. This year I'm hoping to still play around a bit when time allows.

In an effort to keep the creative juices flowing, the challenge this week is all about going retro. Create a project using older pictures, using some of the amazing retro themed product lines out there, or just by using old-school stuff in your stash.

For my project I used a line from the Prima Reflections Collection. I also used a photo of my grandmother surrounded by all her grandchildren circa 1962 - I just happen to be the baby on her lap.

Have fun with this challenge. I can't wait to see your finished projects. Don't forget to come back here and link them up.

Lynne
It has been a busy week for me, so I dug into my files and pulled up this old layout
I had of my parents and my oldest daughter back in 1987.

Joy

Bronwyn

I love product by Echo Park.  They always update and tweak classic retro style.  I used some of their papers and embellishments to create this double layout about my only daughter.

Challenge # 62 Perfect Patterned Paper

Hi everyone.  Lynne here.
I have always been a fan of pattern paper.  In fact, other than black & white, I have very few colors of cardstock in my stash.  So, my challenge this week to you is to use PATTERN PAPER. Lots of it.  In my example, the only solid paper is framing my photos and behind my journaling.  I know this will be stretch for some, but if you try it, I bet you will like the look.  I look forward to seeing what you can do.

Barb
Like Lynne, I love patterned paper. I love mixing and matching the patterns - and usually not fromt he same manufacturer.
For this challenge I'm sharing a layout that was done for my December Daily last year.

Bronwyn
On the weekend I began  wrapping some of the gifts I have already purchased.  But guess what? No gift tags!!  Problem easily solved with my tag punch, glitter, ribbon  and some PATTERNED PAPER!!

Challenge #61 - Seeing Stars!!

Happy Monday everyone!!  Bronwyn here.
Glad to see you back here at Use Your Stuff!

This week the challenge is simple - USE STARS in your
creative project.

Make them glittery, 3-dimensional, or use them as a border - it's up to you!  Can't wait to see everyone's projects.

Here is my project this week.  I made some 3D stars out of patterned paper and created some multi-textured canvases that now decorate my kids' bathroom.

Lynne
I admit I am posting an old layout of me.  Some would wonder why I am posting this, but I think it is fun.  I hope you enjoy it too.  The stars are all hand drawn.

Barb
I love using stars. It's one of those embellishments that can go on just about any project. For this one, it was perfect. What's a western layout without stars?

#60 - Travel

Hello everyone. It's my turn, once again, to host the challenge and since I've been away for a couple of weeks on vacation, I have travel on the brain. So, my challenge for you all this week is do something travel related. You can either make a travel-themed layout, or use travel-themed product on your project.

Here's my layout:

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's projects this week. Make sure you come back here and link up so we can all check it out.

Lynne

I recently took a 3500 mile road trip to Florida and back.  On the way south, I made a huge 300 mile  detour to travel over the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia.

Highlights from challenge #59

WOW what amazing holiday creations you all made. I had a really hard time choosing
some favourites to highlight this week. I ended up picking NINE :)

Grab your badge you crafty people.

A big thank you to all that participated.
THANK YOU

Challenge #59 - Christmas or Holiday themed

Hello and welcome!

We're here with our new challenge and this time we want to see your Christmas or Holiday themed projects.
Easy, right!?

Joy

Remember you can link up any type of holiday project. Cards, layouts, a home decor piece you've made or maybe a holiday inspired gift you are sending to a friend. We loved to see them!

Lynne
I don't make projects for gift-giving, nor do I make cards,
So, I stuck to my comfort zone and did a holiday layout about my son and daughter-in-laws tree
with the Jewish Star of David hanging with the all the other ornaments
and the Chanukah wrapped gifts below the tree.

Bronwyn

I love holiday- themed layouts - the product available is always so delicious and the pics of the kids from this time of year are always adorable!!
