#220 - Use Your Scraps

Hey there!  It's Tammy C. here with my first challenge since joining this talented group of ladies at Use Your Stuff.  This week I challenge you to break into those scraps.  There are so many things you can use those little bits for... punch art, fun borders, altered art, fun backgrounds, mini albums and so much more!  I hope you will play along with us this week.

My project this week is a fun little card using up my paper strips and some die-cuts I had in my stash from previous play time.  You can check out the details and some close-ups on my blog.

Don't forget to stop by our Team's blogs to get more details and leave some love!  We love to read your comments.

When you get to the bottom of this post, you will see the little linky to add your own project.

Happy Scrappin'!

We are excited to have Jane back with us for another week!  Remember to check out her blog here

I used some background I stenciled a while ago, cut a tag and colored it with distress ink. I stamped with Rubber Dance Stamps some large and small circles. The beautiful sentiment is from Darkroom Door Stamps, which I had stamped on vellum.

I used various scraps and made a clipboard for my dad

This challenge is using your scraps to make something amazing really made me think...I often have strips of patterned paper left over so I made my whole background out of various pieces. I secured them to the page by sewing them with my sewing machine. For more details, please check out my blog at myscrappingspace.wordpress.com

Khristina

I absolutely love to dive into my scraps to create all sorts of things. Embellishment clusters, layering pieces, and extra details are some of my favorite ways to use up that ever-growing pile of scraps. For this layout, I used a scrap of woodgrain paper to create the banner shelf at the bottom and pulled out several scraps that were added into the photo mat layers. There are so many options for using scraps, I can't wait to see what you create!

I love designer or decorated papers and made this card was very easy. I used scraps from different collections from Quick Quotes Scrapbook Company one of my favorites brands. These paper are 12"x12" and double sided and combine perfectly with the PowderPuff Chalk Ink.

I had some left-over scraps from a 6x6 paper pad from American Crafts: Amy Tangerine - Yes, Please, that I used in this card.

For today's challenge, I use 3 scrap patterned papers to create a background for my card.  I also stamped my stamp on scrap cardstock before coloring and cutting her out.

ONE of my favorite punches ... Martha Stewart 'Floral Vine'

Who doesn't love a Martha Stewart punch or two or three??

Khristina

I went with a simple circle punch and dressed it up with some fun mixed media and stitching. To see more details and close-up shots, please come visit me on my blog.

Here's my project for favorite punches. If you can't tell, it's a divider.:)

I used a scalloped border punch, a banner punch, a flower punch, and a circle punch on my card.

My favorite is my circle punches, I have them in 4 different sizes, you can see a variety of them being used here

I have this fun little heart punch that I bought at a garage sale for like 10c.  I just love it to add a pop of color on my layouts or cards and it's such a fun shape!

We also have a guest designer playing along with us for this challenge.  A big welcome to Jane!

My name is Jane and I create as Jenna's Design. I live in a small village near Prague in the Czech Republic. I'm a mum, a wife and the owner of a talkative grey russian tomcat. I'm a perfectionist with an eye for detail, responsible, principled, thoughtful, sometimes indecisive ... My friends say: "rather complicated." :-)  I discovered paper crafts a few years ago and in a short time I became totally addicted to paper, stamps and stencils. New techniques are a challenge for me and I love to learn them. Sometimes I design my own plastic stencils for my projects and I also capture my crafts on camera but I'm a beginner at this activity. I'm very happy to be a GD at Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog. Thanks for invitation!!!

Here is Jane's wonderful take on our punch challenge and make sure that you check out her amazing blog!

I used my fave Stitched Border Punch from Artemio and made a chocolate cover for my small nephew

Hi friends, I used a couple of small heart punches to create this layout. I would love for you to stop by my blog and see all the details.

Highlights: #218 KRAFT

Sorry I'm so late posting this.  We had a power outage this morning and then I couldn't get this post to work for me.  Plus, I had to leave early this morning for an all day event.  BUT I'm back now and it seems to be working now.

I'd like to thank everyone who played along with my very first challenge here on Use Your Stuff - KRAFT. I love using kraft as it's such a great neutral colour.   There were lots of fantastic entries this week so it was very difficult to narrow it down to just three.  Here are this week's highlights in no particular order.

This card is just too cute.  I love the little snails and how she stamped her own background.

MaxBelle Studio

The pink hair on this cute image is adorable and the mix of patterned paper is fabulous.  Fantastic colouring too!

PpinkyDolls Kawaii Candy

I love the simplicity of this. This card would be perfect for Christmas or any other gift giving occasion.

Congrats to the Top 3 and don't forget to grab your featured button in the right sidebar. Be sure to stop back by tomorrow to participate in the new challenge!

DIY Kits

Hey everyone, Tammy L here!

So a big part of who we are here at USE YOUR STUFF is making the most of your stash...recently I have realized that I really do have a lot of stash and am at a loss of how to start using it up...I love our challenges but sometimes that just isn't enough.

My solution is DIY kits!  Scrapbook kits are really popular right now and almost every company has some that you can purchase but what about all that stuff you already have and want to use up...old kits, a paper here or there, more embellishments than you know what to do with?

So, I have been doing some research...I have recently found an amazing group of videos from nicmakin on Youtube...she just has these great walk throughs on how to put some kits together all from what you already have in your stash...big kits...enough to let you scrap a bunch of pages worry free, whether you are doing one of our challenges, going to a crop or just feel in the creative mood!  It's all about mixing and matching and being able to throw a bunch of stuff in a bag and be able to put together a bunch of pages with little or no fuss...

You can check out her videos  here!

Katelyn from Gray Florals did a video as well and is just starting her 10 part series to help guide you to your DIY kit  check hers out here

Another great source was brought to my attention from our DT member Tina!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge  has some wonderful monthly challenges to put together your own kit and then to challenge you to use them!  I love to support other challenge sites, especially if they work in tandem with ours!  This couldn't be more perfect!

I hope that these give you a jump off point to start your own kits, I know that they have me and I look forward to putting together a few for when we head out to our farm in May!  I don't want to take a lot of stuff but want to still be able to do up some pages so this is going to work perfectly!

Make sure you check them out!  As always, we love to hear from you, so if you have some ideas or places that you go for DIY kits that you want to share, leave us a note in the comments!

Challenge #218 - Kraft

Hello all - Gail here  This is my first time posting my own challenge.  I hope you can play along with me.

I'd like to see your projects using KRAFT - this could be paper, cardstock or the colour Kraft.

Here are my two projects for this challenge - a card and a layout.

Now check out these cool projects from the other Design Team members.

Love this for a vintage page background.
Mine is the oldie but goodie Life Stories line from MME

I used the new Tim Holtz dies "Wildflowers" and embossed my craft background. For more texture I added some die cuts (Tim Holtz Mixed media Thinlits) from my stash.

I colored the flowers with Distress Ink and added Perfect PearlsMist "Biscotti" for a fine shimmer.

The word stamp is from Rubber Dance Stamps.

Sarah

I loved this challenge - I used the Bella Kraftastic card stock with this gorgeous glittery stars as my background piece. For more details please check out my blog here

I used Monochromatic Style with the stamp set Dandelion Dreams from Skipping Stones Designs. I stamped all my images using Crumb Cake Classic Ink form Stampin Up over the same color of card stock. My sentiment was stamped using VersaFine Onix and Clear Embossing Powder from Imagine Crafts and as final touch I added a few loops and bow with White Bakers Twine.

This week I used Kraft cardstock as the base of the double page layout I created.
I would love for you to stop by my blog to see all the close-ups and how I used some of my stash to create this layout.

Renee
For my project, I chose to use Kraft cardstock as the base for a copic coloring card.  My patterned paper also has a Kraft background.

Trying my hand with a CAS card this week, using Kraft cardstock and a Whitewash Technique.  Stop by my blog to see all the deets and see more pics.  Hope you will play along with us!  Can't wait to see your creations!

Challenge #217: Highlights

Thanks to everyone who played along with the tissue paper challenge this week! This week proved to be a difficult challenge but I think that it is inspiring to push the creative envelope sometimes and I encourage you to keep playing with tissue paper in your projects! Without further delay, here are this week's highlights in no particular order.

I really liked how this card came together and the fact that it was repurposed and created by up cycled materials. Beautiful color combination!

This project was such an amazing use of the tissue paper in a unique way. What a beautiful home decor project!

Lots of great layers and detail work in this card. What a fun and bright spring project to share!

Congrats to the Top 3 and don't forget to grab your featured button in the right sidebar. Be sure to stop back by tomorrow to participate in the new challenge!
