#210 - Use an Embossing Folder

Hi, it's Majo here from the design team and I'd like to show you two of my Easter cards using an embossing folder as a background.

It's always so easy to add texture without using patterned paper, the embossing technique does it all for you :)

This is what our talented team came up with:

Martha Lucia -  I used my embossing folder to stamp! Yes. I inked the raised side of my embossing folder with VersaFine Ink, put my paper inside of the folder and pass through the big shot and voila, I have a new image with embossing details that I colored with color pencils.

Amanda Crow - Dry embossing is one of my favourite techniques! I love how it can change the look of plain paper in so many ways!

Yes...I am working on Christmas cards for this coming Christmas!!

Here are some highlights for you

I was really taken with the steampunk heart's unique look!

#209 - Inspired by a Love Song

Hello everyone!  Are you ready for this week's challenge...we want you to be inspired by a song..not just any song though...with February and Valentine's Day upon us, we want you to be inspired by a  LOVE SONG!
From the heart and from the soul, show us your love song inspired projects!

Here is what the Design Team has for you this week to get you started......

For this weeks challenge I took my inspiration from an Australian band called "Secret Garden" and their song "To the Moon & Back" in creating both my title for this layout as well as sentiment towards our gorgeous "adopted" Nan & Pop whom we all love "to the moon and back"!

Karrie
I chose Madonna's 1985 song Crazy For You to title my page.

Lori
I, too, was inspired by Madonna's Crazy For You song to make a Valentine's Day card.

Tammy
I was inspired by the Bette Midler song Baby Mine.  I think that the love a mother has for her child is one of the greatest in the world...my son is my everything..it felt like I waited for him forever, but I just had to wait until the time was right to accept all that love!

HIghlights for Challenge # 208

Thank you for playing along with our challenge this week everyone! Such wonderful entries for our sequins/glitter challenge. Here are some highlights for you!

Those sequins added just the right touch to this wonderfully textured card!

The clean look of this layout is really great with just a few pastel sequins put in for some great clustering.

This fun watercolored shaker card is a great way to use up a bunch of those sequins in one shot. :)

Ladies don't forget to grab your badge from the sidebar!

Challenge #208 - Sequins or Glitter ♥

Hello everyone!  Renee here with the new challenge for this week.  I'm not sure about you, but I fell in face first to the sequin/glitter craze.  Consequently, I have a ton of it in my craftroom.  Lately, I have been looking for a way to use lots of it up at a time.  So, the challenge for this week is to pull out some of your sequins or glitter and use it on a project.

For my take on this challenge, I used my Fuse tool, another of my supplies that often sits unused, and made a bookmark for my planner for the month of January.  Because I was custom fusing the bookmark, I was able to put in a ton of sequins to add sparkle to the bookmark.

Okay, your turn.  Lets see what you can come up with using sequins or glitter.

I used some old book pages for the background. I stamped my image and placed it behind a "frame", actually a leftover from a Lace-Up Picture Frame, which I colored with gold, brown and a tad of green acrylic paint.

Since I didn't have any sequins I added distress glitter to a heart.

To create my card, I used a Fancy Heart die cut from DieNamites as focal point and a stamped background in the same tone on my card base. Also I added three different colors of sequins gold rose, antique rose and white and a little touch of glitter represented on the bottom border.

I used one sequin embellishment on this layout, it's the yellow bow on the bottom left of the layout.

I've had this big stack of glitter paper for awhile and so I've been trying to use it on a variety of projects.  It worked just great for this Valentine's Day card I CASE'd off of Pinterest
