Challenge #151 - Brads

Amanda here with this week's challenge. I am sure you all have brads at home - I seem to have a ton! I generally use them as centres of my flowers but rarely use them for anything else lately. For this project I found some fun shaped brads that coordinated with my papers and "sprinkled" them throughout the layout of my son and I.

Michelle
True enough I quite a fair bit in my stash too! And I rarely use them. Here are 2 on my card to go along with the orangy background!

We would also like to introduce you to our Guest Designer this month Jen
She created this great layout for our brad challenge.  Be sure to click on her name to be taken to her blog and check out her wonderful projects.

Renee
Brads are one of those things that I almost never use.  Seems like if I want something round, I always grab an enamel dot.  Glad to use up a bit more from my stash.

This week we are also celebrating our 3rd Blogversary! For the last three years we have tried to inspire you and challenge you to use up all your scrapping supplies and create some wonderful memories and projects and to share those with us so that we can experience them with you.

Thank you to all of our wonderful followers and participants who play along with us each week and motive and impress us with your creations.  Everyone that plays along with us this week will be entered in to win a prize that is being sponsored by our own DT member Tammy.  International participants are always welcome so show us what you can do with this week's challenge!

Challenge # 150 Highlights

Happy Sunday everyone! For some of us, we are enjoying a long weekend.  The last one of the summer **sigh**

We had some wonderful projects uploaded for our ad inspired challenge last week and it was so great to see how the same ad motivated each person differently.  :)  Here are some highlights for you

Loved Deb's vibrant and cheery layout, inspired by the colors of our ad.

Kicka had this fun layout with a lot of the chevron and striped patterns from the inspiration piece this week as well as the wonderful vibrant colors .

Electra's layout utilized not just colors from our ad, but the whole concept of sleep and cuddling which we thought was unique.

Congratulations ladies.  Please don't forget your badge from the sidebar.

A big thank you to our Guest Designers this month, Majo (Marion), Jacqui and Ellen.  It has been such a pleasure having you with us and creating along with you.

Challenge #150-Ad Inspired

Hello all! It's another challenge day here at UYS and this week we are doing an ad inspired challenge!
All you have to do is to use the picture below to inspire your project...maybe it is a pattern, a shape, a color or a combination of things...Show us what inspires you!

Here are some fun projects that the DT were inspired to create!

Renee

I was inspired by the fun citrus-y colors found in the ad.  I chose some happy papers from Echo park that carry the color inspiration through my card.

Amanda

I was inspired by the colors and the geometric patterns in the ad to create this layout of my good friend's wedding. (Nope that isn't a smudge - I just blurred out the name of the family!)

Michelle
I was inspired by the chervron and the pop of blue from the ad. I have created with washi tapes and a simple cut out stamped sentiment

Tammy
I pulled some of the fun patterns and colors from this ad for my card.

Our Guest Designer Majo created this fabulous bookmark/tag.  I love the colors and the great textures that she pulled from the inspiration piece.

Julene Matthews' scene is such an inspiration too.  Such an adorable photo with sweet colors and elements of home. Sweet indeed!

Challenge #149 - Home

Hello all, Michelle here. This week is my turn and the theme is Home. You can use it in a different form but the least have a HOME element in it. What I did here was misting on a stencil, added washi tapes and stamped the sentiment and a home image. Do share with us with what you have for this theme and have fun!

Renee

I have a really bad habit of collecting Subway Art cut files from the Silhouette store.  This is one I got months ago, but never found a use for. Likewise, I have had the cut file for the frames themselves for many months and never used those as well. This challenge has a  been great way for me to make use of older cut files and display a great photograph of our puppy.

Amanda

This challenge came at perfect timing for me - I am scrapping 2010 and that year we sold our first home in order to move to the city we live in now.

Highlights-Challenge #148

Thanks so much for all who joined us to in the Dr. Seuss challenge!  Here is an extra layout submitted by our Guest Design team member, Ellen Haxelsmans.  Thanks so much Ellen for contributing to our challenge.

And now for challenge participants projects.  I really liked this card submitted by Sarah T, using the title "Red Fish, Blue Fish" from one of Dr. Seuss's books.  This particular one used to be one of my son's favorites as a toddler.

I was also drawn to this card by Kathy D.  It is not an exact quote from Dr. Seuss, but the original poetry used as a card sentiment as well as the artwork on the card are both very reminiscent of Dr. Seuss. The artwork used on the front of the card was drawn by her husband for her.  Very Cool!

Thanks again for playing ladies!  Don't forget to grab your badge!

Challenge #148-Inspired by Dr. Seuss

Hello all, Renee here with this weeks challenge.  My children loved Dr. Seuss books.  It was among the most favorite books to be read at bedtime.  By the time my son was born, there were Dr. Seuss books on VHS tapes.  He watched his tapes so much that he knew Red Fish, Blue Fish by heart after just a few weeks.  In addition to being fun to read, Dr. Seuss offered his readers many life lessons in his famous quotes.

The challenge this week is to use a Dr. Seuss book or quote as inspiration for a project.

I chose a cut file quote that I purchased as a basis for a layout about Honor's Day 2014 for my children. You can chose to use a quote, color scheme or whatever you fancy from Dr. Seuss to inspire you.

What can you come up with using Dr. Seuss as inspiration.   Be sure to link your layout below so that we can see.

Amanda

I saw a layout on another website I am a member of awhile back and saved it because I loved the quote and wanted to use it on a layout myself - lo and behold it is a Dr. Seuss quote! Here is my page of my best friend's daughter playing dress up.

We are again joined by our Guest Designer Marion!

Hello, I’m Majo Wybranietz. I live in Germany with my husband and our two lovely kitten.

I started scrapbooking in 2008 and was addicted right away. I’m an "all-rounder", I scrap layouts and cards, love to create tags and ATC’s and get my hands into mixed media projects. I love trying new and different things and techniques.  I'm on several design teams and have had my work published in a number of magazines

When not crafting, I enjoy reading a thrilling book and working in our garden.

I'm so excited to be Guest Designer at UYS!

My blog:

Make sure you stop by her blog to check out her awesome projects.  Here's what she created for us this week.
Another Guest Designer with us is Jacqui .  Make sure you check out her blog as well for some wonderful inspiration.
Jacqui was inspired by this quote from Dr. Seuss:

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells.
Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living,
It's a way of looking at life through the wrong
end of a telescope. Which is what I do,

And that enables you to laugh at life's realities
