Challenge #144: Travel

Hi, and welcome to this week's challenge at Use Your Stuff!
As summer is in full swing here in the United States
 and vacations are underway,
my challenge this week for you is to focus on travel.
Pull out those photos from recent and/or past vacations,
make a card to send to someone who is
about to embark on a vacation,  and maybe even make some kind of
memory box to store all your mementos in.
We recently took a trip to Hawaii with my entire family (all 28 of us)
and celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary.  It was a fabulous trip
with lots of activities and of course photo's from everything we did.  I decided
to make a mini album of the trip, hoping to include all the photo and stuff we collected
along the way.    Here is the cover of my mini album that I was
able to do over the weekend to get me started!  Hope this gives you some inspiration:

Amanda

Things have finally settled down and I have some time to scrap...and wouldn't you know it...no travel photos printed! This is a layout I did a couple months ago of a few of my favorite photos from our honeymoon to Nova Scotia a few years ago.

Renee

We just returned from a recent trip to London and Paris,  I have been dying to scrap a few of those pictures. Since I an still editing the ones from our two cameras, I printed out the 100 or so that I had taken on my phone to scrap. Phones are a great way to get travel photos.

And now it's your turn!  Use the In Link provided to add your creation.

Challange #143 - Leaves

Hello all, Michelle here. This week is my turn and the theme is LEAVES. Stamp it, stick the leaves down or create with some stencils.. whichever method that will use up your stash to show the leaves! I had used this Tim Holtz Stamper Anonymous set as my background stamp, clearly seeing the leaves. To achieve those colors, I used 3 distress inks. Come play along!

Here are some DT inspirations for you.

Renee
For this challenge, I used a leaf wreath cut file that I got in the Silhouette store to make a circular monogram card.  I also used the same monogram to decorate the square envelope.

Tammy
For the challenge, I created this cute little ATC.  I found some fun leaf DP and then I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and added some glittered chipboard butterflies.

Amanda

I'm pulling one out of my previous layouts for this one. It's been such a busy month and I apologize for not getting a current example completed but wanted to provide something nonetheless! For this layout of dh and I being silly with the dog I used my Cricut to cut out some leaves.

Challenge #142 Use Wood Veneer or Chipboard

Hello all.  Renee here with my first challenge.  I am super excited about this challenge.  I recently did a major purge in my scrappy haven.  After purging, I organized all of my elements, papers and other product.  One of the things that I had a ridiculous amount of is chipboard and wood veneer.  I apparently jumped all in on the wood veneer craze as I have a FULL organizer box of veneer alone, with another almost full box of chipboard. Ooops!

So, your challenge this week is to use veneer or chipboard on a layout.  Can’t wait to see what you come up with.  Here is a layout I did of me (one of my selfies).  I used both veneer and chipboard here.

Tammy
I have tonz of wood veneer in all kinds of shapes and sizes.  I love inking them up to fit the layout that I am doing.  For this layout, I used some starburst which I inked with some distress ink to fit with my DP.

I'm a tad late with my project this week - we were away camping. I have a lot of chipboard to use up so was glad to see this challenge! This is from my cousin's wedding way back in 2010. The chipboard pieces are the little tags and the circles with dragonflies on them.

Challenge #141 Highlights

Amanda is still away camping so I (Tammy) am bringing you the highlights this week and I do apologize for the delay.  Thanks for all the wonderful entries into our texture challenge last week!  You were so creative!
Here are some highlights for you

#10 Maxibelle Studio
There are some wonderful textures in here with the embossing, sanding and the embellishment clusters.  Wonderful color scheme as well.
#6 The Flamingo Chronicles
This layout has fun stenciling, crochet flowers and altered thickers! Just some of the fun textures that make up a lovely layout.

The faux metal gears on this card are just a fabulous use of texture.  Also the altered butterfly and textured background make for a fun card.

Thanks ladies.  Don't forget to grab your blog badge from the sidebar.  Join us tomorrow for another fun challenge!

Challenge #141 - Texture

Amanda here with this week's challenge! I'd like you to use something to give your project some texture! I chose to wrap some twine around some of my photos. I also cut out some flowers on my Cricut and use pop dots to give them some dimension.

Michelle
Here are a stamp with some gesso and jute to add the texture. I did some spritzing with glimmer mists to give some color.

Renee
Here is my take on the challenge. I pulled out my cuttlebug and a circle embossing folder to create a textured base for my image that I colored with my copics.  I also love to use rhinestones to create texture and a little pop. In addition, I also selected a background paper with a wood grain to it to create a visual illusion of texture.

Tammy
I was at a crop recently where we got to try out some of the new Gelatos and using them with gesso and modelling paste.  A very fun technique that makes great use of my stencils that I seem to have a lot of.  As you can see, there is texture to be had using these, and they are such fun!  We also cut out some layered butterflies with the sizzix.

Lynne
I am a little late to the party this week.  On this layout I used a piece of twine and some mesh behind the photo of my daughter at the beach.  I also used brads and some epoxy buttons to provide more dimension.
