Challenge #138 Patterned paper

Challenge #138

Welcome to another challenge here at Use Your Stuff!  It's Anne. I am a new dt member here and am very excited to be hosting my first challenge this week, which by the way is super easy!  This week I'd like you to dig into your stuff and use patterned paper on your project!  We all have it and after using only half or some of the paper I know you have some leftovers!

Here's a little inspiration to get you started.  I thought I'd use some family photos from Easter, so you could start to get to know my little family!

Please remember to link your project back up here.

Lynne
This was an 'easy peasy' challenge for me as I rarely use solid cardstock other than black or white.  Years ago I started a second heritage album with all the titles being the year of the picture(s).  Here is one from 1940 of my in-laws.  I apologize for the picture quality, but you scrap what you have, right??

Tammy
Patterned paper is something that I have A LOT of :)  This was a great challenge to break into some that I've not touched in a long time.  This particular bunch is from a CTMH set called I think Superstar.  I just love the fun boy colors, perfect for layouts of Riley :)

Amanda
I have a ton of patterned paper too but I generally use solid colors for the background so this was a great challenge! This is my little man at three months old.

Michelle
I'm joining the UYS as a DT for the first time, gladly playing along Anne's pattern paper challenge. I got to admit I have stashed up papers and really need to reduce the papers  The red bold paper is from October Afternoon, one of the Xmas range (totally love this one) while the dull green is from Webster Pages just to pair up to give the constrast

Challenge #137 Highlights

Thanks to everyone who joined in this week to participate in our bling challenge. I loved looking at all the entries!

Here are a few highlights!

Alicia  did an amazing job on this folding card!

Julie put a lot of hard work into all the detail on this layout.

Marina's  card shows how just a few small touches of bling really can add a wow factor to a project!

Congrats to you! Don't forget to grab your badge!

Meet the new Design Team!

First of all, don't forget about Amanda's bling challenge which can be found here!

We are very excited to introduce you to our 3 new DT members for this coming term.  They will be joining myself (Tammy) Amanda and Lynn to provide you with fun challenges and inspiration to use up that ever growing stash pile you seem to be accumulating! :)

First up....Michelle!
Hi, my name is Michelle Looi. I'm a full time working mum and have 2 boys age 5 and 7. I have been crafting since May2011. As DT member I hope to inspire other crafters as much as they inspire me to try new things and techniques. I love mixed media stuff, getting my fingers colorful, especially green and blue every other week when I go to work. I do have tonnes of papers stuck behind the doors, so I do want to reduce the amount from what I had bought since I started scrapping mid of 2011. I have an obsession with washi tapes and want to use them up before I start hoarding again.

I am on the DT at Let's Scrap and Stick It Down . I had guest designed at Artist Cellar, CSI, Scrap The Boys ; and had been published on ezines - Life.Paper.Scrapbook, ScrapN'Art and ScrapStreet
My craft blog is at : http://scraposition.blogspot.com/ & Pinterest @ http://www.pinterest.com/miclooi/

Crafting to me is a way to seek solutide and an avenue to destress. Glad that I found this path and found some arty sense in me.

Now on to Renee!

Hello!  My name is Renee Hagler.  I am a married mom of two almost adult kids.  We also have a 2 year old rescued Yorkie mix who is the baby of the family. Between the two kids and the puppy, I have plenty of scrappy inspiration to work with.   I work full time in a very left brain career.  Consequently, I crave all things creative.  My first love has always been scrapbooking, but I am also an avid photographer, crocheter and overall generally crafty person.  My motto is why buy it if I can make an even better one.  Most recently, I have developed a love of Copic Marker coloring.  I think it takes me back to my coloring book days as a child.   I am very excited to join the Use Your Stuff creative and can’t wait to share inspiration with all of you.

And last but not least Anne!

Hi.  My name is Anne Jang.  I live in West a Friendship Maryland, about 30 min. North of Washington DC, with my husband and 13 yr old daughter.  I've been scrapbooking for almost 17 years, and have completed some 25 scrapbooks.  We have a large family, that all lives within 10 min of each other, and that is the primary focus of my scrapbooking since we see each other almost every day!  I am a traditionalist, and love to "touch and feel"all of the paper and products I use on my layout!  I hope you enjoy what I create and that I give you inspiration!

I hope you will join me in welcoming these wonderful ladies to the DT and we look foward to their wonderful challenges.  The ladies will be starting next week with Anne presenting our June 2 challenge!

Challenge #136 Highlights

First I want to apologize to everyone for being a little late with this post. I have had a wonderful, hectic weekend with my daughter getting married. But speaking of 'wonderful" I need to highlight a few of the entries that caught my eye in this past weeks challenge.
These three really got into the spirit of the challenge.

Challenge #137 - Bling

Welcome to another week here at Use Your Stuff! Amanda here -  I'm so glad the sun is finally shining around here that I was inspired to add some sparkle and shine to my scrapping this week! This week's challenge is to add some bling to your project! You can never go wrong with a little sparkle!

This photo is from my Trash the Dress photo shoot (courtesy of Forever Captured Photography) and I thought it would be a great one to add some bling too - rhinestones, sparkly flowers, rhinestone brads and glitter paper!

Tammy
I love how bling can give just the simpliest cards a little bit of pop.

Show us your bling!

Challenge #136 - Rule of three

Hi everyone.  Another week, another challenge here at UYS.   There is a "rule" or guideline for visual images.  It is thought that if a photo, layout, card etc were divided into thirds, vertically and horizontally, then it would be more visually interesting if your image falls along these lines.  Not sure if this is true or not, so I have taken this rule and changed it up a little  I challenge you to create your next project using THREE of anything you put down.  Three photos/images, three embellishments, three pieces of cardstock, paper etc.

Here is my example.  I used three photos, three patterned papers, three flower punchie diecuts, with three jewels and three words in the title.  I hope you take up this challenge.  Thanks for playing along with us at Use Your Stuff.

Lynne

Amanda
I made a card for the Rule of 3 challenge (3 stamps, 3 pieces of paper, 3 stamps and 2 sets of 3 dots of pearl paint - oh and 3 brads!

Tammy
I made this cute little bookmark for my challenge this week.  I used 3 stamps, and 3 embellishments.  I also have 3 colors.  I hope you like it.
