#125 - Ad Challenge

Hello everyone. Welcome to a new week on the Use Your Stuff Blog.
This week we have an ad challenge for you. The challenge is to look at the ad and let it inspire your next project.

Here is the ad:

Based on this ad, I created this layout. First I created the right hand page to match the ad.

Since I'm scrapping a lot of travel layouts right now, and most of them are two-pagers, I then added my second page to match the first.

I love the way it turned out! I used the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss Collection that I purchased from Scrapbook Nerd .

I loved the grid design of the ad and I decided it would be perfect for the first page of my 2013 "Month-in-review" album that  I still didn't make ! It was really fun to embellish each "square".

Lynne

This ad was wonderful inspiration.  I too liked the grid design, so I came up with this layout to highlight my great-nephew.  I love these ad challenges.

Amanda

I am working on scrapping 2010 right now (I know...just a tad behind!) and I had all these photos from a Carrie Underwood concert that my husband and I attended. The ad was a perfect way to incorporate them all into two pages! All the titles are the songs she sang at the concert.

Milena
I really enjoy these ad challenges. What appealed to me about this one was the grid and the clean lines and simplicity of it. I have done a Project Life type album for the past 5 years but decided not to do one this year, however, I find I take lots of photos - mostly with my phone - that are not worthy of a full page but really represent our daily life. I used this ad to create a collage of those photos for the month of January.

What does this ad inspire you to create this week. Don't forget to come back here and share your project.

challenge #124-Travel

Hello everyone!  This week I'm hosting our challenge.  With all the Olympics over the last couple of weeks, and the highlight on so many diverse countries, it got me to thinking about travel.  So my challenge for you this week is to create a project with travel in mind.  It could be a layout about a place you visited, a bon voyage card, an ATC with a travel theme, a layout or card with a mode of transportation.  There are many different possibilities.    I hope that you will play along with us this week.  The DT has some great inspiration projects for you.

Tammy
I decided to create some ATC's with a travel theme.  To me, travel is about the journey and the experiences that got us there and takes us from.  I think that is why I love to travel so much.  There is always so much about it that enlightens our life.

Milena
A couple of years ago we took a whirlwind trip to New York City. What a blast! That city has so much energy, so much character and so much history. We had a great time. When we got home, we had to rest and recover from our vacation!!!

Lynne

I am involved with a large group of wonderful ladies who like to scrapbook.  This layout has pictures from our wonderful week last fall in the Outer Banks of N. Carolina.  This is one of  my "forever happy" places.

Barb
I've been really enjoying working on my travel pages in the last few weeks, so this was a perfect challenge for me to complete. On this page, I used the Kaiser Craft Collection, called Now Boarding which I got at Scrapbook Nerd

Isbaha
Travel often leads to masculine color palette, but I decided to make a feminine card for a friend who is at a turning point in her life. The sentiment means something like "going to a new place" (but it's not only for geographic places).

Highlights - Challenge #123 - Hearts

Thanks to everyone for participating this week. We had great submissions ! Here are the highlights for this week :

Challenge #123 - Hearts

Hello, Isbaha here ! Had you a nice Valentine's Day ? I hope so !
This week's challenge is to use hearts on your project. Let's see what the DT members did :

Lynne
This challenge was perfect for me.  I have been working on an 'Engagement Year" album for my daughter.
It gave me a chance to my heart punches.  I even decided to do a double page layout.
If you know me, you would know how rare that is for me.

Milena
I really enjoy hearts on a layout. I did this page about my oldest daughter. I took these photos right after a haircut and she was having fun in front of the camera. I don't get to record her silly side as often as I'd like.

Tammy
I really enjoyed doing a layout not only about hearts, but something close to my heart.  My two brothers.  We don't see each other very often so pics of us together are few and far between.

Barb

Hearts is something that I don't use a lot of. This is a layout I did of a weekend I spent with a couple of good friends so it was a perfect opportunity to add a heart in there.

I have a dear friend who loves the "Seen and Noted" papers by Pebbles, so I thought that she might enjoy a set of homemade embellishment with this collection :

Here is a closer look :

From the top left to the bottom right, there are "faux leather" hearts, vellum layered hearts, assorted rosettes, quilling flowers, hearts with buttons and little bows.

Everything is homemade. If you're interested to make your own embellishments, here is a link to my blog.

Amanda

I love to use hearts on my projects, especially when the subject is something near and dear to my heart!

Now, it's your turn : make a project using hearts : hearts patterned paper, hearts embellishments, anything with hearts !

Highlight from Challenge #122

Well I guess you must have all been busy dealing with some pretty awful weather in many parts of the world.
Dreaming about taking a suitcase and leaving for gentle destinations?
I know I have felt that way this past week - extreme temperatures and humidity with raging fires destroying Australian hopes and dreams.

Thank you to Mirella from Scotland who created a delightful suitcase card for our challenge.
You can find more of her work here

Over the next ? months my travels will be to the hardware store and no more as our renovations are once again pushed forward. A little crafting may be what I turn to to ignore the mess. Catch up with me here.

Don't forget to Use Your Stuff and most of all to have crafty fun times.

Challenge #122 - Our Wonderful World

Hello! Julie Short here. Do you have a go to place? A place in our Wonderful World where you connect with the Earth?
Are you a traveller, seeking to see as much as you can or like most of us, more likely to explore all that is close to you - even if it is your backyard?
Wherever you may go, or dream of going, my challenge this week is to share with us, where, in the World, is Your Wonderful!

I love to travel and so I decided to create an album to celebrate my journeys. You will find a detailed description on my blog.

Have you guessed yet what I am using for this album?

This will be my last post for Use Your Stuff but certainly not the last time that I follow the ideas of this terrific challenge. What will you use up this week and where is your Wonderful World?
We are all looking forward to seeing it.

Tammy

One of my favorite cities in the world is Paris.  Since I was a little girl I have loved everything about the French culture.  I was lucky that I made a life long dream come true several years ago when I was finally able to visit such an amazing city.  I have only ever been there once, but I long to return.

Lynne
I never feel more at home and in peaceful relaxation than when I am by the ocean.
The sea and salt air make me feel like all is right with this wonderful world.

Barb
In the last couple of years I've been very fortunate to take some trips to places I've never been before. When Julie stated what her challenge was going to be, I was thrilled to have a reason to pull out some of my pictures from Italy.

Amanda
I haven't done a lot of travelling yet (although I hope to!) but as I was thinking through the places I have been and trying to decide what to do for this challenge, my eyes fell on this photo on my desk. Seeing it while thinking of this topic made me think that no matter where I travel the most wonderful place on earth for me will always be wherever my precious family is.

Isbaha
The title reads "Anywhere if I am with you".
It's what I said to my husband soon after our dating, when he asked me where I wanted to live...

We would like to say good bye to Julie, it's her last post for Use Your Stuff and we truly enjoyed her work ! She was so inspiring and friendly, and we wish her good luck for her projects !
